4. I'm watching a women's volleyball game on TV right now, and if the 2-piece suits they're wearing get ANY SMALLER, they MIGHT AS WELL be wearing thongs! (Soft-porn meets network sports events?) (Volleyball cheesecake?) I don't know about you, but I'd get paranoid if I had to parade around, 75% nude, chasing volleyballs, not only in front of the crowd, but on network TV! -- CDADave.

Beef Recall FAQ

However, USDA officials believe most of the beef already has been consumed, as most of it is a raw beef product with a very brief shelf life.

Exact product descriptions can be viewed in a document at the USDA web site. All Westland products carry the company's federal establishment number -- EST 336 -- as well as the packing date.

Why does the USDA say the risk is low?

The risk is low because no contaminated or infected beef has been found and because no human illnesses have been linked to the recalled beef.

Why was the beef recalled?

According to the USDA, Hallmark/Westland voluntarily recalled the products because of allegations that the company failed to properly inspect cattle prior to slaughter.

A video released by the Humane Society of the United States vividly documents inhumane treatment of cattle at the Hallmark/Westland facility.

Why Inflation Will Trump Deflation (Reasons 1-2)

Many people look at the answers to these questions as being a battle between economic forces, where the outcome is uncertain. In one corner we have the forces of inflation and hyperinflation, as represented by Germany in the 1920s, Latin America in more recent decades, and Zimbabwe today. In the other corner we have the forces of deflation, as represented by America in the 1930s, and Japan in more recent years. In this battle of titans each side has their highly intelligent and educated advocates, who can use the combination of history and financial equations to make a convincing case that either inflation or deflation will emerge on top - with opposite results for the value of the dollar.

The outcome of this battle is vital for investors. If you invest for the destruction of the dollar (inflation), and the dollar increases in value instead (deflation), then a strategy that looked lucrative on paper could become painful in reality.

How Obama Can Win

The real demand for "comprehensive reform" came from intellectuals, ethnic interests and political strategists who saw a transformative potential in winning the Latino vote. Like Iraq, it was a war of choice. In the event, it turned out businesses didn't care nearly as much about it as Karl Rove, John McCain and Tamar Jacoby. Bush was reduced to urging businessmen to lobby for his plan.]

The upshot is that the current lack of a "Reagan" candidate is a historical accident (unless you also want to blame Bush for failing to put in place an adequate successor). Mitt Romney didn't have to be a Mormon. Fred Thompson--or someone like him--could have put the Coalition back together. Bush's damage turned out not to be irreperable: The war in Iraq is fading. Immigrant semi-amnesty can (and probably will) be postponed.

Let bankruptcy judges step in

They can't pay what they agreed but can pay more than their lenders could net from foreclosure. Owners in this category can afford their homes but not their mortgages. Most want to stay and are willing to pay what their home is worth. It is in their lender's economic interest to let them. Foreclosure is expensive, and lenders end up bearing most of the costs. Foreclosed houses tend to sell for less than the market price, thus driving housing prices down further — and generating more foreclosures.

Most plans for solving the mortgage crisis seek to promote communication between lenders and borrowers so they will make this mutually beneficial deal. Often, however, the mortgages have been sold and securitized. Each investor owns only a small fraction of each mortgage, making direct negotiations impractical.

Good afternoon Astros fans. After consuming all the information that I could on the hometown nine since the end of last season, I have finally gotten around to giving a breakdown on this year's team. While things aren't necessarily great, two things have come to the forefront: 1. The Astros are improved; and 2. They will not be as bad as the experts are saying. Let's start with number 2, and you may ask, how do I feel so confident in the face of all those experts who say the Astros will tank. Well, its easy, as while the Astros will have some glaring holes in their team, nobody could be as bad as some of the predictions that the experts have ponied up about the Astros. IMPROVEMENT One of the first things we have to look at is that with all the problems the Astros had last year (Jennings, Mo, Jason Lane, Chris Sampson on the DL, Woody, etc.) they still managed to win 79 games.

AIDS, malaria relief lauded

My passionate appeal is for Pepfar to continue," he said.

In Kenya alone, Pepfar is credited with saving more than 57,000 lives. Pepfar funds more than 70 per cent of its supply of AIDS drugs, which are distributed at no charge, according to the Kenya National AIDS Council.

"I don't know what would have happened without Pepfar," said council director Alloy Orago. He said the U.S. funding freed the Kenyan government to devote more of its resources toward other programs, including free primary education. Despite a nationwide drop in prevalence, AIDS remains Kenya's Number 1 killer, claiming more than 80,000 people a year.

To Bush's credit, Pepfar has raised the number of Africans on antiretroviral treatments to 1.2 million from 50,000.
